What would you do if it happened to you?
The lottery – everyone’s had a go at some point. After all, who wouldn’t want to win a million or more just by paying a small stake and choosing a few numbers? And anyone who’s played the lottery has daydreamed about actually being the winner – landing the jackpot and what they’d do with it!
Nowadays, of course, you can play almost any lottery around the world online. You don’t have to live in the country where the lottery’s held. So you’ve just as much chance of winning the Powerball or Megamillions in the States as you do the National Lottery in the UK or the EuroJackpot. But if you want to increase your chances of winning, the EuroJackpot gives its players better chances to win than other lottos, so maybe that’s the best one to go for.
And while you’re waiting for your numbers to pop up, why not indulge your jackpot daydream by re-watching a classic lottery-winning movie: the 1994 rom-com It Could Happen To You, starring Nicolas Cage and Bridget Fonda. It’s got a little bit of everything – the hardworking and honest good guy cop played by Cage who promises a hard-up waitress (Fonda) that he’ll split the lottery ticket winnings with her as he doesn’t have enough change for a tip. Then there’s Rosie Perez who plays his materialistic and money-grabbing wife who can’t bear to share their jackpot winnings.
Of course, romance blossoms between the cop and waitress, who turn out to be far more compatible than he and his wife ever were, and they do many generous deeds with the money compared to his wife’s extravagant spending. Perez is great as a spoiled princess who eventually decides to divorce Cage’s character and tries to take all the $4million prize money in the divorce settlement!
But there’s no need to worry as this is a Hollywood movie so the cop and waitress end up doing just fine in the end! All in all, a great movie for imagining what you’d do with your lottery jackpot. And you never know – it could happen to you!
