xXx: Return of Xander’s Cage is hitting cinemas on 19th January and has more stunts than a James Bond film on steroids.

Rory McCann as Tennyson in xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE by Paramount Pictures and Revolution Studios
You’ll see daredevil Rory McCann playing an ex-stunt man who races boats and even flips his car off a ramp, which he actually performs himself. The cast also includes Ruby Rose who is armed with a rifle (and a killer shot) alongside Deepika Padukone, who shows off her flexibility and impressive fighting skills.

Expect a lot of explosions and life-threatening circumstances that will get your adrenaline pumping throughout the film!

To celebrate the new film, we’ve compiled a list of films that also impressed the audience with its daredevil skills:

Point Break (2015)

Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) is an FBI candidate set with the task of going undercover in a group of extreme-sport criminals who want to ‘liberate’ the riches of the world. You see the group surfing a tsunami, jumping off cliffs and diving from a mountain top in wingsuits (an authentic scene performed by stunt artists). The plot in this film may be basic, but the adrenaline-filled scenes keep your heart-racing throughout.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015)

The fifth Mission Impossible film in the franchise once again has Tom Cruise proving the impossible is possible as he hangs off the side of an Airbus A400 Atlas as it takes off the runway. You can watch the ‘behind the scenes’ footage of this stunt on YouTube, which is absolutely spectacular. If you have already seen the film, it’s definitely worth watching again to appreciate the extent of planning that went into this scene. It will also make you more awe-struck when you realise Cruise is literally hanging on for dear life off the side of an actual plane.

Casino Royale (2006)

Daniel Craig stars as James Bond, and yet again keeps up the reputation of death defying stunts. There’s a wide variety to choose from, but the stunt that stands out is where he leaps between two construction cranes that has a massive drop between them. The stunt took three weeks to film in the Bahamas and won ‘Best High Work’ at the World Stunt Awards in 2007.

Salt (2010)

Angelina Jolie stars as the protagonist in this film, which was originally written for a male actor (Tom Cruise), but Jolie proved that women can perform this role just as well. With her experience of action movies such as Tomb Raider, Wanted, and Mr and Mrs Smith, Jolie is able to perform the majority of the stunts herself. The most impressive was in the film Salt where Jolie jumps from a bridge onto a speeding lorry, followed by another jump to another moving lorry where she then makes a leap landing on a motorcycle to make her getaway. Jolie and the stunt coordinator Simon Crane confirmed that she did complete all the stunts in that scene herself to the amazement of awe-struck fans at a Comic Con Convention in San Diego.

Police Story (1985)

Jackie Chan famously performs all of his own stunts and there are so many to choose from, including Rush Hour and Shanghai Knights. Jackie Chan wrote and directed the action film, Police Story, which is set in Hong Kong. Jackie Chan plays an undercover cop with the mission to arrest crime Lord Chu Tao. There’s a wicked fight scene in a shopping mall that is perfectly choreographed seeing Jackie Chan in his prime.
