One of the runaway hits of this Sundance was writer-director Damien Chazelle’s opening night movie, Whiplash.
The film follows a young drummer (Miles Teller) who has his heart set on joining the realm of the jazz greats. But will he be able to cope with the never-ending pressure piled on by his hard-ass music school conductor (JK Simmons)?
Flicks And The City caught up with some of the film’s stars and writer-director at Sundance to find out more about the movie.
Miles Teller and Paul Reiser chat to us about their on-screen father-son relationship, jazz music, the challenges of being a drummer, which actors inspired them in their own careers, what lengths they’d go to for a movie, and what we can look forward to from them next:
Writer-director Damien Chazelle and Austin Stowell tell us about the inspiration behind Whiplash; their love of jazz music; the blood, sweat and tears of being a drummer; and their next movies including working with Selena Gomez:
