Writer-director Sally El Hosaini’s brilliant first feature My Brother The Devil has its UK premiere at this year’s BFI London Film Festival.

Starring newcomer Fady Elsayed, rising star James Floyd, musician-turned-actor Ashley Bashy Thomas and La Haine star Saïd Taghmaoui, the film follows British-Egyptian brothers Mo and Rashid as they navigate life and love on a London housing estate.

Sally and Fady are both nominated for the London Film Festival’s Best British Newcomer.

Check out the video to see Sally chat about drawing on her British-Egyptian roots, belated birthdays, and urban teen language.

My Brother The Devil screens on the 16, 19, and 21 October.

The 56th BFI London Film Festival runs from 10 to 21 October 2012. Click here for more details.
