London Film and Comic Convention 2014 Preview

Stan-leeIt feels like we’ve been waiting forever, but the time is nearly upon us when thousands of eager convention attendees from all over the world descend onto London for the biggest signing event in Europe – London Film and Comic Con!

The event has come a long way in the past decade and now hosts over 100 signing guests over the weekend from the world of TV and film, as well as comics, video games, cosplay, anime and so much more. This time Showmasters are even branching out with a Book Zone and the first ever UK Young Adult Literature Convention in association with the Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman.

Taking place from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th July, LFCC is sure to be a huge success at Earls Court 2 in London. It is looking to be an event that no one can afford to miss, with some of the most popular names in all of popular culture attending to meet fans.

The headliner this year is Marvel superstar Stan Lee, creator of so many of those superheros we all know and love on the big screen and in comic books. This will be Stan’s final ever European signing appearance, so be sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to meet one of the most legendary men in all of the comic book industry. Comic book movies are huge business at the box office these days so it’ll be great to hear from Stan about how his creations have exploded in popularity over the past few years, such a long time after their initial debut in illustrated form.

If we’re talking about legends then Carrie Fisher certainly falls into that category. Princess Leia herself will be making a welcome return to Showmasters events at LFCC to meet thousands of Star Wars fans eager to find out more about the forthcoming trilogy. No doubt Billy Dee Williams (Lando), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (R2D2) and Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) will also get the Spanish Inquisition, as well as numerous other guests from the epic sci-fi series. Fisher isn’t the rarest guest however as Ian Mcdiarmid aka The Emperor will make his UK signing event debut and movie fans will surely want to add him to their collections.Carrie-Fisher

It’s looking like it’ll be a struggle to fit everything into a single weekend! Star Wars fans have obviously got it covered, but Game of Thrones viewers also have a selection of guests including the infamous Lena Headey (Cersei), Natalie Dormer (also of Elementary) and one of the most popular actors in the most recent season in Pedro ‘The Red Viper’ Pascal. UK acting legends John Hurt (Doctor Who, Merlin) and Bernard Cribbins (Doctor Who) will be joined by some of the most popular genre actors from overseas such as Summer Glau (Firefly), Edward James Olmos (BSG), Robert Knepper (Prison Break) and numerous supporting cast from The Walking Dead.

Throw in current Who companion Jenna Coleman and a number of Doctors, guests from Power Rangers, 24, Atlantis, Harry Potter, Buffy, Heroes and wrestling, and you have to wonder when you’ll find time to breathe! It’s the most epic of lineups and we’re looking forward to hearing from the biggest and best in the industry. No doubt they have many tales to share and we hope to catch up with as many of them as possible at the event!

Last but not least is a preview panel for the upcoming Sherlocked convention. This will allow thousands of fans to have the opportunity to listen to Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue who will be answering questions on all things Sherlock and hopefully giving a glimpse into what’s to come with the convention! It’s free to attend and 300 random attendees will get the chance to meet the panel after for a signing.
