Home » Jon Bernthal set to ‘Punish’ Daredevil

Marvel have announced that The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal will play Frank Castle AKA The Punisher in season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil.

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb said, “Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences”

Best known for playing Shane Walsh in the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, Bernthal has also appeared in Fury and The Wolf of Wall Street in recent years.

This isn’t the first time he’s been linked to another comic book property – he was rumoured to be in the running to play Rick Flagg when Tom Hardy pulled out of Suicide Squad. Hardy has also recently said he’d like to play don the famous skull T-shirt and play The Punisher himself.

The Punisher is a vigilante who wants to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, but despite these similar aims, his methods could well see him on the bad side of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox).  Usually aiding other heroes in the comics, he’s both helped and come into conflict with Daredevil, Spider-Man and Captain America in the past. Unlike Daredevil, he’s not afraid to kill criminals – the relationship between the two promises to be intriguing!

Forever getting annoyed at people in the audience at cinemas.
