The Wire is constantly cited as one of the greatest TV shows ever made, and in honour of its re-release on Blu Ray Flicks And The City caught up with Jermaine Crawford, who played Duquan ‘Dukie’ Weems in seasons 4 & 5.
Watch our video to see him explain how he was cast in the show and also what it was like meeting up with his fellow schoolboy cast members for the first time. Jermaine talks about what it was like working with Jim True-Frost, who played his teacher Mr Prezbelowski in the show. He describes what went into those heartbreaking scenes that Dukie and Michael have during their time as friends. And why only now is he fully appreciating the complexities of the show.
He tells a funny story about how Tristan Wilds, Michael K Williams and himself all appeared on stage singing a classic music song.
Since the show has finished, Jermaine has been releasing music and he explains what his style is and how it all came about for him.
The Wire: The Complete Collection is released on Blu-ray on 1 June for the first time ever courtesy of HBO Home Entertainment
