Isabela Moner And The Rise Of Kick-Ass New Talent

Transformers: The Last Knight is now in cinemas, and with it brings another fresh and exciting talent. 15 year old Isabela Moner will be playing the role of Izabella; a quick-witted orphaned tomboy. Izabella has become an expert in repairing machines through her unlikely companionship with two damaged Cybertronians. The Peruvian-American actress found fame playing CJ Martin in Nickelodeon’s 100 Things to do Before High School, and was the winner of Cinemacon’s Rising Star of the Year Award 2017.

It appears to be the dawning of a new era in Hollywood, with teenage girls kicking ass becoming a long awaited trend. Here we’ll take a look at the other young girls who are rapidly becoming the heroes of the next generation of Hollywood.

Millie Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown shot to international fame in 2016 for her portrayal of the Eggo-hoarding telekinetic badass Eleven in Stranger Things. Her role of Eleven led her to become the world’s most famous 12 year old, giving off young Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman vibes, Brown is set to be one of the most exciting rising stars of the era. Having won the first gender neutral MTV Movie Award for Best Actor in a Show and a Screen Actors Guild Award, Millie Bobby Brown is also the new face of Calvin Klein.

Dafne Keen

Dafne Keen impressed the world with her remarkable performance of Laura Howlett in the box office hit Logan. Keen played the mutant bred child of Wolverine in the X-Men franchises tenth installment. At just 11 years old, she wowed critics as she managed to match the performances of her co-stars Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. Stewart himself gushed over her ability to seamlessly improvise a scene in two languages during her audition; after that, casting her was a no brainer. She and Jackman won Best Duo at the MTV Movie Awards.

Angourie Rice

At just 16, Australian actress Angourie Rice has cemented herself as a talent to be reckoned with in her first Hollywood role of Holly March in The Nice Guys. Holly is the daughter of Gosling’s alcoholic private eye, Holland March. Her character perseveres to assist her father in his hectic investigation to solve the murder of a famous porn actress. The role earned her well-deserved rave reviews and Rice gave us a refreshing and believable portrayal of a head-strong and independent girl, determined to ensure her father solves his case. Rice has a number of exciting roles coming up, including the much anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming and Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled.

Quvenzhané Wallis

When she was just 9 years old, Quvenzhané Wallis became the youngest Best Actress nominee in Oscar history for her starring role in Beasts of the Southern Wild. In Beasts she plays Hushpuppy, a scrappy and imaginative six year old who, faced with her single father’s ailing health and an impending catastrophic storm, must learn an array of life lessons. Since then, she has since had a role in 2013’s Best Picture winner 12 Years a Slave and played the title role in the 2014 remake of Annie. Now at just 13 years old, Wallis is an unstoppable force of new Hollywood.

Danika Yarosh

American actress Danika Yarosh has been acting since she was 5, having won bit-parts in several films and starred in theatre productions both on and off-Broadway, but her breakthrough movie role came in the form of 2016’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Yarosh played action-royalty Tom Cruise’s potential daughter in the film, and picked up a few kickass moves of her own. Just 17 at the time of filming, Danika showed that despite her young age, she has what it takes to become a Hollywood star.
