Directors of Short Films at Sundance London
The Future Filmmakers event at Sundance London was a great place to meet up-and-coming British directors, including Kibwe Tavares, Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling.
After seeing their films on the big screen, I had a quick chat with Kibwe, Becky and Joe, whose films are on the shortlist for this year’s Vimeo Awards.
LISTEN below to hear Kibwe Tavares on the inspiration behind his short film, Robots of Brixton; whether he sees himself as an architect or a filmmaker; how architecture defines his work; shooting his next short in Zanzibar; and why it’s important to be political.
LISTEN below to hear Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling on creativity, making puppets, and why the colour green gets such a bad rap in their short, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.
Don’t forget to watch Kibwe’s film, Robots of Brixton, and Becky and Joe’s short, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.
