The big screen adaptation of Gayle Forman’s young adult novel If I Stay has been highly anticipated for months, and now we finally have the film’s official trailer!

Chloe Grace Moretz stars as Mia Hall, a 17-year-old girl who appears to have it all; a loving family, a doting boyfriend, and a musical gift for the cello. However, when tragedy strikes Mia has an out-of-body experience as she is left to make the hardest and most important decision of her life.

_DSC3110.NEFThe trailer gives us a real insight into the story and the emotional performances that we should expect when the film hits cinemas later this year. As well as Moretz giving it her all as the protagonist, Jamie Blackley has just as important of a role as her boyfriend Adam, and the two’s tragic love story looks set to carry the film through and bring a lump to the throat of even the toughest viewers.

All in all, from the trailer it seems as though If I Stay will be remaining true to the novel, which is sure to please fans of the book whilst expanding the audience to fans of other romantic dramas. Only time will tell if If I Stay will reach the success levels of other adaptations of critically-acclaimed romantic novels, such as The Notebook, One Day and The Time Traveller’s Wife… But it is certainly looking promising!
