Home » Oliver Ford Davies on Melisandre, Stannis & Flaming Idols

Before Renly Baratheon and Gendry learned that tangling with Melisandre is not to be recommended, poor Maester Cressen found himself in the red priestess’ line of fire at the start of season 2.

Poison, it seems, has no effect on the lady in red. And the lesson we duly learned from Cressen was: don’t try to bump off Melisandre unless you like being hoisted by your own petard.

When we caught up with actor Oliver Ford Davies, who plays Cressen, at Collectormania, we asked him all about meeting GoT’s supernatural Lady MacBeth.

Check out our video to see Oliver talk about all-night shoots on the beach with flaming idols, trying to kill Melisandre with poison, working with Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon) and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), why his character Cressen had to have sideburns rather than a beard and why the show is so popular.
