An incredible new trailer has been released for Mad Max: Fury Road which looks set to cement its place right near the top of any must-watch list this year.
George Miller brings Mad Max back after 30 years, and it’s already clear there’s nobody better fit for the role than Tom Hardy. Beginning with Max’s voiceover, he talks of being a man reduced to one instinct: ‘survive’, as he jumps out of a cave, far above the ground below. The film, like this trailer, promises to be a constant chase.
We see the world Max is living in and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. There’s guns, there’s cars, there’s… flamethrower guitars? It all feels like a bad dream, but will leave you needing to catch your breath. Benefitting from the reshoots that took place, the whole trailer is absolutely stunning. It demands being watched multiple times just to take in what is happening.
Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult also appear, both shaven headed and almost unrecognizable. Also starring are Zoe Kravitz, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Riley Keogh – as Toast, Splendid and Capable, surely among the best character names in film this year.
Released in the UK on 14th May 2015, it will be followed by a series of three prequel comics.
