Edinburgh Film Festival with Chris Fujiwara
With the 66th edition of the Edinburgh Film Festival just around the corner, Artistic Director Chris Fujiwara made a flying visit to London to unveil his vision for 2012.
So, what can you expect at Edinburgh between 20th June and 1st July this year?
- 19 World Premieres, 11 European Premieres, and 76 UK Premieres.
- 121 new features from 52 countries, including William Friedkin’s Killer Joe, Disney Pixar’s Brave, James Marsh’s Shadow Dancer, Penny Woolcock’s One Mile Away, Bobcat Goldthwait’s God Bless America, Peter Strickland’s Berberian Sound Studio, Alex Barrett’s Life Just Is, Luis Prieto’s Pusher, and the latest Scandi crime film, Jackpot.
- Retrospectives of Hollywood director Gregory La Cava and Japanese director Shinji Somai.
- Showcases of the Philippine New Wave and cinema from Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.
- The return of the Michael Powell Award, with docs and fiction competing side-by-side for the first time.
- Masterclasses with director Victor Kossakovsky and Wang Bing, an on-stage interview with actor Robert Carlyle, a panel on digital film restoration with top editor Thelma Schoonmaker, and an ‘in conversation’ event with leading cinematographers Seamus McGarvey and Chris Menges.
