Home » Paul McGann on The Night Of The Doctor, Regeneration, & Doctor Who Audioplays

Last Thursday, Doctor Who fans had a fantastic treat when Paul McGann returned to the show as the 8th Doctor for the first time since the 1996 Doctor Who movie.

In the mini-episode The Night Of The Doctor, which ties in with the 50th Anniversary special The Day Of The Doctor, we finally saw the 8th Doctor’s long over-due regeneration.

This weekend at Collectormania in Milton Keynes, Flicks And The City caught up with actor Paul McGann for the second time in as many months.

Check out our video to see Paul talk about what it felt like to be back filming as the Doctor, saying the line ‘I’m a Doctor – but probably not the one you expected‘, how tough it was keeping The Night Of The Doctor secret, what it’s like being part of Doctor Who in the 50th Anniversary year, how he’s not in the 50th Anniversary special, finally getting his regeneration scene, how it feels to be bridging the classic and new generation of Doctors, and how the Doctor Who audioplays are now part of the canon.

He also chatted about whether Peter Calpadi is the final incarnation of the Doctor, the teaser clip for the 50th Anniversary Special, what he thought of his new Doctor Who costume and wig, what we can expect from the next Doctor Who audioplays, what his favourite part of the audioplays have been so far, and sent a jokey message to fans about donating their hair for future Doctor Who wigs.
