Billie Piper talks Penny Dreadful, Bond & Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi
If you’re a fan of gothic horror, the supernatural, or just superbly written and acted drama, then you’re very much in luck as Sky Atlantic’s latest series Penny Dreadful hits the small screen on 20 May.
The series was created, written and produced by the team behind Bond movie Skyfall: three-time Oscar-nominated writer John Logan and Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes.
Penny Dreadful takes some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – and adds in newly created characters, weaving them all into wonderfully macabre stories set in Victorian London.
Sky Atlantic premiered Penny Dreadful, at London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel this week, and Flicks And The City talked to the show’s cast, including former Doctor Who star Billie Piper.
Check out our video to see Billie Piper chat about what she enjoyed most about making a show set in the Victorian era, blending classic characters with newly invented characters, why John Logan’s script was unputdownable, if she’d like to be a Bond villain, and why Peter Capaldi will be such a great Doctor.
Penny Dreadful starts on Sky Atlantic on Tuesday 20 May.
