It’s a hard knock life but don’t worry, the sun will come out tomorrow with this musical remake!

The final trailer for Annie starring Quvenzhané Wallis, the youngest actress to be nominated for an Oscar, in the title role is out now ahead of the movie’s release in UK cinemas on 26 December 2014. The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne and Cameron Diaz, who round out a brilliant ensemble cast.

The much-loved musical story is kept much in tact in this 21st-century remake; Annie is a happy fun-loving foster child who was originally abandoned by her parents as a baby and has since spent her life with mean foster guardian Miss Hannigan (Diaz).

Everything changes during a chance meeting with hard-nosed businessman and candidate for Mayor of New York Will Stacks (Foxx), who takes in little Annie as a publicity stunt. But what starts out as a campaign move soon turns more personal, as it seems that both Stacks and Annie change each other’s lives in more ways than one.

The film seems like perfect family holiday viewing, and even though the new trailer doesn’t feature much of the musical side, it looks set to be a heart-warming and fun movie. It has the right level of comedy, particularly the antics that Annie and Stacks share as they adjust to having each other in their lives. The main comedy aspects appear to come from Cameron Diaz’s turn as evil Miss Hannigan, her over-the-top manner and facial expressions fitting well with the genre of the film.

For anyone who’s a fan of musicals, or looking for a great family film to watch on the big screen this Christmas, then this is the film for you!

Annie is out in UK cinemas on 26 December 2014.
